Summer Sales Show Signs of Recovery

Summer Sales Show Signs of Recovery

York Minster

Although 2020 has been far from the year we were all hoping for, and tough times still lie ahead for the tourism industry in the UK and across the world, we have noticed a steady increase in sales coming through Open Pass as the summer has progressed and visitors have started to return.

From being at virtually zero in April and May, and then a trickle of sales in June, we’ve seen a significant increase in ticket and pass sales in both July and August as the restrictions across the country have been lifted. In July sales were at 8.75% of the 2019 figure and in August that had increased to 17% when compared to 2019 data. The trend looks set to continue into September as sales for the first week of the month are at 26% of last year’s total. Even though the numbers are still substantially down this steady recovery is encouraging.

Destination passes have fared particularly well with sales of York Pass recovering to 40% of the 2019 amount in August and the Shakespeare’s England Explorer Pass seeing 31% of the sales from the same period last year. Sales in Scotland have been slower to return which may in part be due to the more gradual lifting of lockdown restrictions as well as an earlier return to school north of the border.

There is a long way to go but we’re still remaining positive for the future here at Open Pass. As we enter the autumn months and new restrictions are enforced we’re ready to support our attractions and partners in any way we can.

Ready To Welcome Visitors Back

Ready to Welcome Visitors Back

open

As we enter a new month and restrictions continued to be eased following Boris Johnson’s ‘road map’ for the UK’s exit from lockdown we remain positive for the future here at Open Pass. It wasn’t quite business as usual for us in June but we did see a steady trickle of sales come in for those attractions that were able to open and we’re hopeful that numbers will continue to increase throughout the summer months and beyond. We are looking forward to welcoming visitors back across our marketplace!

Over the next week or so a significant number of our attractions will be opening their doors to visitors for the first time since March. They have all worked hard to make sure that they can keep both visitors and staff safe whilst on site with a range of measures in place from limiting numbers, and one-way-systems, to increased cleaning regimes and having hand sanitiser readily available. A number of them have already been awarded VisitEngland’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry standard mark meaning visitors can be confident that they are adhering to Government and public health guidance.

Although the future is looking bright for open air and outdoor attractions we are aware that for places such as heritage centres and museums the social distancing measures are making life a little more difficult and, in some cases, not financially viable to open just yet. Open Pass and our network of partners will be ready to start selling tickets again as soon as businesses are in a position to re-open and welcome visitors back.

Our destination passes started 2020 on a very positive note with sales booming. As more attractions open and more people look to take a holiday or a short break across the UK we’re confident that sales will return to pre-lockdown levels. Destination passes offer convenience and value for money both of which will be increasingly important to visitors over the coming months.

If you’d like to find out more about the Open Pass system and how we could help you to welcome visitors back – from booking systems to increasing your audience – you can find out more about us here.

Sell Warwick Castle Tickets with Open Pass

Sell Warwick Castle Tickets with Open Pass

Open Pass trade partners have exclusive access to Warwick Castle tickets.

Warwick Castle – known as Britain’s Ultimate Castle – is one of the most popular attractions in Warwickshire attracting thousands of visitors each year. The castle grounds and gardens re-opened to the public earlier this month and the castle will be open from the 4th July. A number of measures are in place to ensure the safety of visitors and staff including essential pre-booking and temperature checks, and Warwick Castle has been awarded VisitEngland’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry standard mark. This means visitors and partners can be confident that they are adhering to Government and public health guidance.

Our partnership with Warwick Castle means that Open Pass is the only platform that hotels can use to re-sell their tickets and being able to do so allows hotels to enhance their offering to their guests either as part of a stay package or as an extra once guests have arrived. Not only does selling the tickets allow hotels to provide added value to their guests’ stay but it also earns them a commission at the same time! A real bonus in the current uncertain climate for hotels and accommodation providers.

If you’re interested in selling Warwick Castle tickets or would like to find out more about partnering with Open Pass you can call us on 01865 364537 or email sales@openpass.co.uk.

We’re delighted to announce that Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall in Stratford-upon-Avon have teamed up with Open Pass and their tickets are now available to purchase through our network of trade partners.

Flying Start to 2020 as Pass Sales Roar!

Flying Start to 2020 as Pass Sales Soar!

open pass passes

It’s been a great start to the year for our destination passes with sales for January at an all time high! The passes have been selling well across the board with the numbers of sales of the Shakespeare’s England Explorer Pass steadily increasing month-on-month, and both the York City Pass and York & Beyond Explorer Pass selling in good numbers. The Edinburgh City Pass has had a phenomenal start to 2020 with its best monthly sales to date.

All our pass partners have worked hard to get their products out in front of a wider audience utilising our connections with big names like TripAdvisor as well as fine-tuning their marketing activities – and the hard work appears to be paying off!

This is very encouraging for Open Pass and the new destination passes that will be launching with us over the coming months.

If you would like to find out more about working with us as a pass organiser or if you are interested in becoming a trade partner and pass re-seller please give us a call on 01865 364537 or email sales@openpass.co.uk and our friendly team will talk you through the options.

The Explorer Pass is Growing

The Explorer Pass is Growing

shakespeare distillery

We’re delighted to announce that the Explorer Pass now includes 18 attractions. Shakespeare Distillery have joined the Explorer Pass and their distillery tour has become the 18th attraction included with the pass, and is now available to pass holders for free. This new addition makes the Explorer Pass even better value as well as broadening the range of attractions included.

The Shakespeare Distillery is an independent artisan spirit producer based in Stratford-upon-Avon. Established in 2015, everything they produce is in small handcrafted batches, ensuring the best tasting spirits around!

At Shakespeare Distillery they are inspired by the Tudor period – the era in which Shakespeare lived. Thanks to Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries, the Tudor period became a time of great discovery, experimentation and innovation within the world of spirit production as people soon discovered that it could be a very nice recreational drink too – not just a medicine! They aim to recapture this period of innovation by fusing traditional and, in some cases, forgotten ingredients with modern techniques to create exciting new spirits.

They offer a range of ways to get involved and learn about their craft from Gin School to Cocktail Masterclasses as well as their distillery tours. The tours run on Wednesdays through to Sundays and are a fun way to learn about how gin is made and, of course, try some too in a tutored tasting session!

We very pleased to have Shakespeare Distillery onboard with the Explorer Pass and are looking forward to working with them. You can find out more about the distillery tours here and the Explorer Pass here.

Open Pass has had it’s best year to date in 2019 with nearly £2million worth of sales of passes, tickets and tours being generated through the system over the course of the year.

The Open Pass network has grown significantly with new trade partners and attractions joining the marketplace and realizing the benefits that the Open Pass system brings – a much wider audience plus increased ticket sales for attractions and an extra income stream for trade partners that also enhances their customers’ experience too.

The addition of several global partners including TripAdvisor and Klook has also helped to strengthen Open Pass’s offering to attractions and helped us to put their products in front of people all around the world.

Who Are Klook and Why Are They Good For Your Business?

Who Are Klook and Why Are They Good For Your Business?

Klook logo

We’re really proud of our growing global network that connects our attractions with customers all around the world. One of the large multi-national companies we have partnered with this year is Klook. Perhaps not as well-known as TripAdvisor and Expedia here in the UK, Klook is one of the largest Online Travel Agents in the world.

Here’s a little more about them and why they are good for your business:

About Klook

Klook is a Hong Kong based company that was founded in 2014 to help tourists find things to do across Asia. The platform was an instant success with over 1,000 experiences available including big names like Disneyland Tokyo and over 200,000 users within their first 9 months after launching.

As well as serving Asian destinations, Klook also wanted to serve Asian travellers and set its sights on other destinations around the world and has continued to expand its reach year on year. In 2018 Klook opened an office in London and is starting to make progress in the UK marketplace.

They currently offer over 100,000 iconic travel experiences, tours and attractions in over 350 destinations across the world.

Why Are They Good For Your Business?

Putting your attraction on Klook gives you access to Asia-based tourists. Its predicted that Asian tourists, particularly the Chinese, will be the most prolific tourists in the world by 2030. Klook is already well-established across Asia and gives you instant access to this expanding marketplace and potentially hundreds-of-thousands of new customers.

And if that’s not enough for you, as one of the fastest growing companies in the industry Klook continues its ambitious expansion plans and is investing in the UK and European markets, and perhaps will rival the likes of TripAdvisor here in the not-to-distant future too.

Klook is also a pioneer in mobile-first technology and is ‘dedicated to making the booking process smooth and efficient for its customers’ as well as ensuring the success of local operators. In today’s fast-moving technological marketplace this makes them a valuable partner to have helping you to keep up-to-date and in front of customers with minimal hassle.

How Do I Partner With Klook?

Partnering with Klook is simple – Open Pass handles the contracts and the set-up for you. If you’d like to find out more please give us a call on 01865 364537 or email sales@openpass.co.uk
